7. Design Features

 

  • True Double Block & Bleed: Two independent seating surfaces create positive isolation of pressure from both ends. The body cavity can be bled via the NPT port, verifying seal integrity and allowing safe maintenance.

  • Trunnion-Mounted Ball: The ball is supported by trunnions, absorbing pressure thrust and reducing seat wear, ensuring consistent sealing at high pressure.

  • Pressure-Energized Seats: The seats are spring-loaded for low-pressure sealing and pressure-energized for tight shut-off at full rating. Double piston effect (DPE) seats can be provided for bi-directional sealing even if one seat fails.

  • Integral NPT Bleed/Vent: The cavity port allows pressure monitoring, sampling, purging, or complete drainage. A small needle valve or plug is typically fitted; a ball valve can be supplied for permanent connection.

  • F316 Stainless Steel: Excellent corrosion resistance for sour gas, acids, and chloride-containing media, with full NACE MR0175 compliance (when specified).

  • Anti-Blowout Stem & Anti-Static: Stem retention prevents ejection; conductive springs prevent static buildup.
