Technical Data Sheet

Product: Full PFA Lined Floating Ball Valve
Body: ASTM A216 WCB, Internally Fully Lined with PFA
Ball: ASTM A216 WCB, Fully Encapsulated in PFA
Type: Floating Ball, Full Bore (Standard) / Reduced Bore (Optional), Flanged Ends

1. General Description

This full PFA lined floating ball valve provides a robust solution for handling highly corrosive and ultra-pure media. The body and ball are manufactured from ASTM A216 WCB carbon steel, and all wetted surfaces are completely isolated from the metal by a thick, seamless PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy)liner and encapsulation. The PFA lining offers outstanding chemical resistance, high temperature capability, excellent non-stick properties, and low permeation. The floating ball design, combined with the interference fit between the PFA-lined ball and the integral PFA seat surfaces on the body liner, ensures bi-directional bubble-tight shutoff. The valve is available with a lever handle up to DN100 (4″) and a gearbox for larger sizes, with an ISO 5211 top mounting pad for actuation.

2. Design, Manufacturing & Inspection Standards

  • Valve Design: API 608 (Floating Ball Valves), ASME B16.34

  • Lining Design: MSS SP-134 (Lined Ball Valves) / Manufacturer’s Standard

  • Pressure Rating: ASME Class 150 (PN20); PN10 and PN16 on request

  • Face-to-Face: ASME B16.10, Class 150 (Short Pattern for Floating Ball)

  • Flange Connection: ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF (EN 1092-2 PN16 available)

  • Testing & Inspection: API 598 (Zero Leakage Seat Test)

  • Lining Integrity: Spark Test at 10–15 kV DC (no pinholes)

6. Pressure–Temperature Ratings

The maximum working pressure is limited by the PFA lining at elevated temperatures. Based on WCB Class 150 body and full PFA lining.

Temperature (°C) Max. Working Pressure (bar)
-29 to 50 19.6
100 16.5
120 14.5
150 12.0
180 10.0
200 (intermittent) 7.0 (consult factory)

Test Pressures (Ambient Water)
Shell Test (1.5 × CWP): 29.4 bar
Seat Test (1.1 × CWP): 21.6 bar – Zero leakage in both directions

7. Installation and Maintenance Notes

  • Orientation: Valve can be installed in any position. For horizontal lines, stem vertical is recommended.

  • Flange Gaskets: The PFA liner face acts as an integral gasket. No additional gaskets are normally required, but a thin PTFE envelope gasket may be used on rough flanges.

  • Operation: Do not use cheater bars on the lever. Gear operator is recommended for sizes ≥DN125 and for actuated valves. Ensure the ball is fully open or fully closed; throttling service is not recommended.

  • PFA Sensitivity: Use non-metallic tools for any cleaning of the liner. Avoid sharp objects. A spark test after installation is recommended.

  • Maintenance: The stem packing is externally adjustable via the gland follower. If leakage persists, the packing set can be replaced with the valve in service (line depressurized). The PFA liner and ball are not field-replaceable; if damaged, the entire valve must be refurbished or replaced.

  • Thermal Cycling: PFA has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than metal. Frequent extreme temperature swings should be evaluated to maintain long-term sealing integrity.
