Backseat Test Water 341.3 bar No leakage at packing

7. Design Features

  • Open Die Forged Body: The body and bonnet are manufactured from open die forgings, ensuring superior grain flow, structural integrity, and absence of internal defects compared to castings. Ideal for extreme high-pressure service.

  • Stellite 6 Trim: Both the disc seating face and the renewable seat ring are hardfaced with Stellite Gr.6, providing exceptional resistance to galling, erosion, and wear at high temperatures.

  • OS&Y Rising Stem: The outside screw and yoke design ensures the stem threads are isolated from the process fluid and can be easily lubricated. The rising stem gives a clear visual indication of valve position.

  • Backseat Function: The stem incorporates a backseat shoulder that seals against the bonnet when the valve is fully open, protecting the packing from pressure and allowing packing replacement under pressure.

  • Butt Weld Ends: Provide a permanent, leak-tight connection with no potential external leakage path, suited for high-pressure piping requiring full penetration welds.

  • Guided Disc: The plug disc is guided in the bonnet, ensuring accurate alignment with the seat and preventing vibration damage during throttling.

8. Application Scope

  • Suitable Media: High-pressure steam, boiler feedwater, condensate, oil, gas, and other hydrocarbons compatible with carbon steel and Stellite.

  • Temperature Range: -29 °C to +425 °C continuous (up to +538 °C intermittent).

  • Industries: Power generation (boiler circuits, superheaters), petrochemical, oil & gas (wellhead manifolds, high-pressure injection lines), and general heavy industrial high-pressure processes.

  • Key Advantages:

    • Robust forged construction handles extreme pressure safely.

    • Stellite hardfaced trim extends service life under severe conditions.

    • Can be used for both isolation and throttling (intermediate positions).

9. Optional Configurations & Accessories

  • Gear Operator: Bevel gearbox for easier operation at high differential pressures.

  • Actuation: ISO 5211 mounting pad (adaptor) for pneumatic or electric actuators.

  • Seat Material Alternatives: Stellite Gr.12, Tungsten Carbide, or 13Cr for different service conditions.

  • Stem & Trim Materials: A182 F304/F316, Monel, Inconel 625 for corrosive or low-temperature services.

  • End Connections: Flanged (RTJ or RF), Socket Weld, or Hub ends.

  • Live-Loaded Packing: Spring-loaded gland for constant packing compression through thermal cycles.

  • Locking Device: Handwheel lockable in open/closed position.

  • Position Indicator: Additional visual or electrical limit switches.
