2-Piece Trunnion Ball Valves—600LB
Description
Technical Data Sheet
2-Piece Trunnion Ball Valves – Cast Body
Pressure Class: 600LB
Design: Side Entry, Trunnion Mounted, Full/Reduced Bore
1. General Description
This series of two-piece, side-entry, trunnion-mounted ball valves features a cast body and utilizes the trunnion principle, where the ball is supported by bearings at both the top and bottom. This design significantly reduces operating torque and seat wear compared to floating ball valves, especially in larger sizes and higher pressure classes such as Class 600. The valves are available with a variety of trim and seal options, making them suitable for a wide range of applications including oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and general industrial services. Standard end connections are flanged RF and RTJ. They can be supplied with lever, gear, or actuators.

Hydrostatic Seat Test: 1.1 × Class 600 rated (approx. 1100 psig / 75.8 bar water), zero leakage.
Low-Pressure Seat Test: 0.6 bar pneumatic, zero leakage.
Fire-Safe Test: Per API 607 / ISO 10497, ensuring seating integrity before, during, and after burn.
Cryogenic/Low-Temperature Test (optional): For LCB/LCC or CF8M valves, per BS 6364.
PMI & NDE: Positive Material Identification, Liquid Penetrant and Ultrasonic inspection on castings as per specification. EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification.
6. Installation & Maintenance Tips
Trunnion Support: Ensure the valve is properly supported in the pipeline; the trunnion design does not require the pipe flanges to carry the ball assembly weight.
Orientation: The gear operator or actuator should be mounted with the stem vertical. Horizontal stem orientation is acceptable only with adequate support of the operator.
Cavity Vent/Drain: If the valve is equipped with cavity vent/drain ports, ensure they are correctly connected or plugged as per the project’s safety requirements. The cavity must be depressurized before disassembly.
Seat Type: Understand the seat design (SPE or DPE). DPE seats provide a seal in both directions at the expense of cavity self-relief; an external relief valve may be required for thermal overpressure.
Startup: Cycle the valve fully open and closed before pressurizing. Flush the line to remove debris that could damage the seats.
Maintenance: Trunnion valves are heavy and require proper lifting and support during maintenance. Sealant injection ports, if fitted, should be greased periodically.
