Technical Data Sheet – 2-Piece Trunnion Ball Valve

Size: 8″ (DN200) | Pressure Class: 150 LB | End Connection: Raised Face (RF) Flanged

1. General Description

The 8″ 150LB 2‑Piece Trunnion Ball Valve is designed for on‑off service in industrial pipelines. The trunnion‑mounted ball (fixed ball) reduces operating torque and seat wear, while the two‑piece body construction allows easy maintenance. Suitable for oil, gas, water, steam, and other non‑corrosive media.

2. Design Features

Feature Description
Body Construction 2‑piece bolted design
Ball Type Trunnion mounted (fixed ball)
Seat Design Spring‑energized / pressure‑assisted seats (bidirectional)
Stem Design Blowout‑proof stem with anti‑static device
End Connections Raised Face flanges per ASME B16.5 Class 150
Operation Worm gear operator (standard for 8″) with locking device
Fire Safe (optional) API 607 / ISO 10497 certified
Flow Direction Bidirectional
3. Applicable Standards

Parameter Standard
Design & Manufacture API 6D, ASME B16.34
Face‑to‑Face Dimension ASME B16.10 (long pattern)
Flange Dimensions ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF
Pressure‑Temperature Rating ASME B16.34
Testing & Inspection API 598 (zero leakage)
Marking MSS SP‑25
4. Material Specification (Standard Carbon Steel Option)

Component Material
Body & End Cap ASTM A216 WCB (carbon steel)
Ball ASTM A182 F316 (stainless steel)
Trunnion / Stem ASTM A182 F316
Seats PTFE (virgin or glass‑filled)
Seat Springs Inconel X‑750 or SS316
Stem Bearings PTFE + bronze
Gaskets Graphite + SS316 spiral wound
Bolting ASTM A193 B7 / A194 2H
Coating Epoxy, blue RAL 5005
For corrosive services, upgrade to CF8 (SS304) or CF8M (SS316) body.
5. Pressure‑Temperature Ratings (WCB Body – ASME B16.34 Group 1.1)

Temperature Max Working Pressure
-20 to 100°F (-29 to 38°C) 285 psig (19.6 bar)
200°F (93°C) 260 psig (17.9 bar)
300°F (149°C) 230 psig (15.9 bar)
400°F (204°C) 200 psig (13.8 bar)
⚠️ PTFE seats limit max temperature to 400°F (204°C). For higher temperatures specify PEEK or metal seats.
6. Dimensions & Weight (8″ RF Flanged, Gear Operated)

Parameter Value
Face‑to‑Face (L) 457 mm (18.0 in)
Total Height – Open (H) 470 mm (18.5 in)
Center to Top of Gear 315 mm (12.4 in)
Flange O.D. 343 mm (13.5 in)
Bolt Circle Diameter 298 mm (11.75 in)
Number of Bolt Holes 8
Bolt Hole Diameter 22 mm (0.88 in)
Approx. Weight (WCB body) 145 kg (320 lb)
7. Flow Coefficient (Cv)

Port Type Cv (Water @ 60°F, 1 psi ΔP)
Full Port (standard) ≈ 1250
Full port design minimizes pressure drop and allows pigging.
8. Operating Torque & Gear Operator (8″ Class 150)

Service Condition Torque (in‑lbs / Nm) Gear Ratio
Clean liquid/gas 1800 in‑lbs (203 Nm) 30:1
Dirty or viscous media 2400 in‑lbs (271 Nm) 40:1
Electric or pneumatic actuators available on request.
9. Testing per API 598

Test Pressure Duration Acceptance
Shell Hydrostatic 1.5 × rating (427.5 psig) 2 min No visible leakage
High‑Pressure Seat 1.1 × rating (313.5 psig) 2 min Zero bubbles
Low‑Pressure Air Seat 90 psig (0.6 MPa) 1 min Zero bubbles
10. Marking (per MSS SP‑25)

Manufacturer’s name/logo
8″ – 150 LB
Body material code (e.g., WCB / CF8M)
API 6D
Heat number
Flow direction arrow (for reference – bidirectional sealing)
11. Ordering Information

To order an 8″ Class 150 LB 2‑Piece Trunnion Ball Valve with RF flanges, please specify:

Valve size: 8″ (DN200)
Pressure class: 150 LB
Body material: WCB (or CF8/CF8M)
Seat material: PTFE (standard) / PEEK / metal‑seated
End connection: Raised Face flanges ASME B16.5
Operation: Worm gear (standard for 8″)
Fire‑safe certified: Yes / No
Optional accessories: Locking device, limit switch, solenoid valve, positioner, etc.
12. Notes

The trunnion design provides low operating torque and long seat life, ideal for large diameters and high differential pressures.
The two‑piece body allows in‑line maintenance (end cap removal).
For steam or high‑temperature service (>200°C), replace PTFE seats with PEEK or metal seats.
Disclaimer: This data sheet provides typical values for an 8″ Class 150 two‑piece trunnion ball valve. Always refer to the manufacturer’s certified drawings and test reports for exact specifications.
